Organic Plants Tips and Ideas
Organic Plant Nutrients Offer a Green Solution
Hydroponics gardening is a popular method of growing indoors that uses no soil, but instead the plant's roots are immersed in a liquid solution of plant nutrients. Depending on the types of plants you wish to grow, you might want to select hydroponic gardening supplies that would include organic plant nutrients.
Why is is important to grow plants organically?
Plants absorb nutrients up through their roots. This is good when the nutrients include the minerals they need to grow and thrive. It becomes less attractive when you stop to consider that plant roots can also take up toxins. These toxins can be found in the soil, in the water used for adding moisture to the plant roots, and in fertilizers and pesticides used to promote plant growth and production.
If the plants you want to grow are vegetables and fruits, then you obviously do not wish to eat plants that contain toxins, because those toxins will then end up in your body and have the potential to cause health damage over time and repeated exposure. It is a safer choice, in terms of healthy options, for food crops to be grown organically. This means that no toxic chemicals will come into contact with the plants. Hydroponics offers one method of growing crops organically.
This can be a problem if you want to produce organic produce on land that has been exposed to toxic chemicals. Even if you do your part to keep your property chemical free, neighboring land can be host to toxins that can be released in water runoff that can end up on your land, contaminating it.
Plants growing indoors offer an alternative in this situation. Growing indoors allows for complete control of all environmental factors that can have an effect on the plants. When you garden using hydroponics you can choose integrated pest management techniques and use no chemical pesticides at all, yet still maintain a pest-free environment. Because the plants are grown without soil contact, you avoid all the soil-borne toxins as a matter of course.
So, too, you can use organic hydroponic nutrient solution to feed your plants, knowing that the all natural ingredients will not add toxins to the plants, and neither will there be harmful chemical residue running out of your storm water drains.
Although each different type of plant, be it a tree, flower, vegetable or shrub, will require a special hydroponics nutrient solution based on their specific needs, nevertheless all plants, regardless of where or how they are grown, require a few minimum nutrients for survival. The three major nutrients are nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, followed by macronutrients and micronutrients in lesser amounts. Hydroponics allows you the greatest control over every aspect of plant growth, from chemical-free plant nutrients and pesticide-free pest prevention, so that the end result will be the freshest, healthiest vegetable and fruit crops for you to enjoy.

What green projects that students can do?
I would like to ask what are the interesting and feasible green projects that students can do, for example organic planting or hydrophonics and all that.
any other ideas that might seem interesting for students to run?
Thank you all
hmm actually i would prefer plantation projects or something like that, like a garden cafe where you can have people interact with the surrounding to create awareness. but thanks for the answers so far.

Is there any elevated language here?
When it comes to nutrition many advocates say that organic food is safer, possibly more nutritious, and often better tasting than non ? organic foods. They also claim that organically grown produce are better for the environment and kinder to animals.
But is it possible that you might just be spending a little to much on organic foods? Is it possible that your money is going into foods that might have no difference in your diet at all? And is it possible that organic foods can be much more harmful to us than processed produce? The answer here is yes. And who says?! Well, statistics says, and we can't really argue with statistic here now can we?
The amount of man-made pesticide residues found in conventional foods are still well below the level that the Environmental Protection Agency has deemed unsafe. And come on now people, its not like we're actually dunking our foods in potentially ?harmful? pesticides.
And because organic production steers clear of synthetic insecticides and pesticides, organic crops usually contend with more pests and weeds than conventional crops. This means the organic plants may produce more natural toxins. And more natural toxins means that you are more likely to become ill from organic produce than you are from conventional foods.
Fertilizers used to grows these ridiculously over priced fruits and vegetables may increase the risk of contamination by dangerous microbes like E. coli. Right now many people say that organic foods are much more nutritious but the differences are so small that they probably have no impact on overall nutrition.
And so in conclusion ? no, it does not seem reasonable to spend an arm and a leg on a couple of bell peppers, avocados or mangoes. But then again, while the big picture is important, you must make the decision that makes the most sense for you.

Do you think we will come close to approving marijuana again?
Once that Nazi's leadership runs out anyway? The reason I wonder about this is because 4 days ago when I drove by the provincial parliament building here in Winnipeg there was a whole shitload of marijuana smokers congregating to I assume protest for the decriminalization of marijuana in this country. I don't smoke the stuff myself anymore but hell, I don't see why we can't just legalize that stuff and allow people to do what they want with an organic plant. If it gets patented by tobacco companies or whatever, then wouldn't the companies be paying a lot more for it from the growers in order to distribute it than any private illegal operation would be, this would then seize all private illegal operations.

Planting in plastic containers healthy?
I want to start my own organic garden, but what I am wondering is.. Is it okay to plant organic plants in plastic containers? Or do they pick up the toxins from them? I don't believe in using plastic because it's manufacture is horrible for the environment, but if it's already made, can I use it??
Basically I just need to know if all sorts of nasty things will harm the organic nature of my plants if planted in plastic.

Supertunia (pertunia hybrid) is dying?
I have 2 hanging baskets, both are petunias. I got them 2wks ago and they were big and beautiful w/blooms. Now, the blooms are drying up, the vines are turning brown and I've found bugs inside the flowers. I've watered them, I've fertilized them, I've fed them organic plant food and I just don't know what else to do. I really love these plants. Can someone please tell me how to save them?
I live in OH and the weather is normally fair but lately it's been above average in highs, in the 90's and mostly humid. I do have them hanging in the sun because the tag said to have plenty of water and sunlight so I'll move them and wait a few days to water them again...thanks for your response, I really appreciate it ;D
